Welcome to the University of Idaho Chapter of the Welcome to the University of Idaho Chapter of “The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE-UI)”. It is with great honor that I thank you for your interest in our chapter. I also extend a warm NSBE welcome to current and future members, corporate sponsors, and partner organizations. The National Society of Black Engineers is not only the largest student-run organization in the nation; we are also a business; a network of thinkers and doers: and most importantly a family with common interests and goals. NSBE's mission is “To increasing the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community”. Change has become a crucial point in today's local and national, political and apolitical environments, and NSBE-UI is no different and we have tailored that mission to reflect our commitment to change. We are on a unremitting mission ”to develop and implement programs that advance the Northwest Inland's interest in the various engineering disciplines, and increase the number of minority students studying science or engineering in our community and at the University of Idaho for both the undergraduate and graduate levels”. We try to reach back into the community and lend a helping hand in a manner in which we were once assisted. We tutor, we mentor, we try to show the youth that the educational experience can be fun and that leadership reflects results and ultimately develops socially conscious leaders in the process. If you are interested in making a change, NSBE-UI, is the place you might want to consider starting. We must all keep in mind it takes one step at a time, we can all do our part by changing the world one engineer at a time. In conclusion, I would like to encourage you to see what NSBE-UI has to offer by continuing to visit our website, attend our events and/or volunteer. Experience the excitement of NSBE with us!
